We love reading and hope to share a few of the books we found to be wonderful and inspiring (or just plain fun). I will be adding to this list frequently and would love to hear in the comments about your favorite books!
For the Family:
The Green Ember, SD Smith (We have listened to two of the three in this series as a family. I’ll post a full review soon but they are very good. There is some good/evil violence that might be scary to very young listeners/readers but it is well written and not overly graphic) You can also read this one for free with Amazon Kindle Unlimited.
Mr. Lemoncello’s Library Series, Chris Grabenstein (We actually started on the 2nd one in this series because it was loaned to us from a friend but the children loved it as a read aloud and begged for more. They are now working on reading the others independently).
The Chronicles of Narnia, CS Lewis (This is no doubt one of our favorite series. Honestly, if we could only own one fictional series it would be this one. We quote from it we have read and listened to them so much. They are fun, entertaining, and have such great lessons. We also really love listening to the Focus on the Family Radio Theater version.)
Callie’s Contest of Courage is a wonderful book that shows how God helps a young girl through trying times when she turns to him. Callie goes through several struggles and the reader watches as she grows and matures through them. My daughter and I both enjoyed this book.
Cranberry Thanksgiving (We also love Cranberry Christmas and Cranberry Valentine. These books are fun picture books that our entire family enjoys. They also each include a yummy recipe with cranberries at the end of the book which my children enjoy baking and eating while I read aloud.)
A Life That Says Welcome, Karen Ehman (A great book about hospitality)
A Lifegiving Home, Sally Clarkson
A Lifegiving Table, Sally Clarkson
Hands Free Life: 9 Habits For Overcoming Distraction, Living Better & Loving More (This is a great book about forming habits that help us to focus on people and not be distracted by technology).
A Charlotte Mason Companion, Karen Andreola
Give Your Child the World: Raising Globally Minded Kids Jamie C Martin
